Threat of Silence DEMO
A downloadable game for Windows

Threat of Silence is a first-person horror about a woman with schizophrenia. It's based on my own experience with the sickness. Everything you're about to play is a true story. Even the journals are clipped from journal entries I actually wrote.
With that in mind, the game is in early development, so be patient. With the game's Kickstarter we hope to improve the game even more than it is now.
Here is a full commentary video on the game:
***A few problems****
If the framerate lowers during gameplay, especially if you are streaming, try the different versions of the game below. The slowness is due to your computer's resolution.
Also, lighting does not build for certain scenes. It's random every time. We don't know what's causing this. Yes, we googled it. If you think you know the solution, contact us.
If you liked what you played, or even think it can be BETTER, follow our pre launch Kickstarter page!

I would also appreciate if you could give an opinion on our latest game. Game devs advice is precious because we know better what it takes to make something work. It's called "Backdoor Shifts".

This is a perfect example of a little goes a long way, and how personal experiences can speak volumes. You didn't need big jumpscares or creepy music. That weird, unsettling feeling persisted throughout, leaving me tense and terrified but also wanting more. I left your Kickstarter in my description. I know I'm small, but anything to get more eyes on this fantastic project!
What a fantastic walkthrough. Made me laugh pretty hard. I'm glad you thought it was scary. I thought it was scary but I also went through it. So I am glad you were able to put yourself in Claire's shoes.
You did an amazing job at representing and explaining what its like living with schizophrenia. Great work! I can't wait to see more of it!
Thank you!
A very interesting demo; whilst there are a few technical issues that need working upon (EG frame-rate drops in certain areas), it looks promising nonetheless. Definitely got that increasingly unsettled feeling as it progressed. Good job!
Yeah framerate issues seem to happen based on your resolution. Thanks!
great game and can't wait to see what happens next
Thank you! Things are better, thankfully.
I finally had the time to play this. (Played v1.9)
[Mild spoilers ahead]

The frightening elements were well executed both visually and narratively. Those walls felt very SH3 and the only thing more unsettling than the bulbous things on the walls was how no one seemed to mind them.
I like that the horror elements aren't based in Claire having schizophrenia, but rather what Claire experiences as a result. So instead of reinforcing a stigma, the fear comes through perspective.
As far as gameplay, it was very intuitive, even for someone like me that's typically not great at video games.
The only thing I didn't pick up on was that you could zoom by scrolling. I just saw that in the commentary video after playing it.
I wasn't sure if taking a shower in the game had an effect or not, but I found myself doing it daily UNTIL the room changed.
Initially, I checked the phone everyday, but stopped when I realized there would be a chime notification.
Also, in my playthough, the living room lights were off when that black mannequin thing appeared by the window. I was surprised to see in the commentary video that the lights were supposed to be on, because I thought it was creepier in the dark. Was that an artifact of something unfinished that was meant to be in the game, or was it truly supposed to be just a dark static figure?
I'd be interested to see how the rest of this plays out.
I hope you're able to continue with it.
Thank you for the kind thoughts! Yes it is very Silent Hill. I had hallucinations straight from the game.
Hello, I played this game and it was pretty neat, although the gameplay wasn't really smooth tbh but hopefully that'll be sorted out in the full game so over all it was greatly done, good work :)
What do you mean by smooth?
Thank you!
Thank you for sharing, you did an amazing job, even the title is perfect :)

Thank you!
Thanks!
Thank you for sharing something so personal with us and creating such an amazing game to express it!
Thank you!
Of course! Thanks again for the game!
Thanks!
hope you get better from schizophrenia!
You never get better from schizophrenia since it's a lifelong gig. However, I AM stable and no longer see hallucinations.
This was by far my favorite walkthrough. Thank you so much for sharing your experience. Not only is this supposed to educate others but it's supposed to make those who experience psychosis, hallucinations, delusions, etc say "Oh wow! This is me! I dealt with that too!"
You got hung up in some areas which I will need to work on. However, I am so glad you enjoyed it.
Oh I am so glad you liked my walkthrough! Truly! There is no bigger compliment than the Dev of the game you are playing, complimenting the walkthrough you made about their game. I really appreciate you watching the video and I am so glad you liked it! Please let me know when the full game is available, it is easily the game I am most looking forward to playing in the near future! This game honestly blew me away and you should be so incredibly proud of what you have made here! It felt so nice to be able to relate to a game the way I related to yours. Mental illness SUCKS but sometimes its nice to know you are not alone :) Thanks for an amazing game. Cant wait to see more from you xo
It's sure is scary to have this illness. Please take your meds. Great game, I think it's a healing that you made this. Thank you.
Yes we do need to take our meds! Thank you!
I have to take my meds. Life's a bitch. Here's to your recovery. Thanks for the comment.
i hope you enjoy the vid and i hope you reach the kickstarter goal and beat the sickness :) you can do it :)
Aw thank you! Yes, I hope the KS succeeds! The sickness isn't "beatable" since it lasts forever, but I am stable right now. Which means no hallucinations or delusioins. :)

nice story
Thank you <3
Good game. The story seems to be quite interesting. I would like to see this game complete one day. Congratulations.
Thanks!
This is an interesting game just for the mere fact that it's entirely based on personal experience. I'll admit that most of the nuances of schizophrenia most likely went over my head due to not knowing the first thing about it. So for me, it's a bit more educational then anything else.
I will say however, I would recommend optimize the game (even if it is a demo) so that it runs better. I have a i7 10700k with a rtx 2070 super and at times, you can feel the game struggling.
Beyond that, the game's interesting for exploring Schizophrenia.
Yeah, it runs well on certain computers and not others. It seems to be the resolution? I'll have to figure it out.
This was a really interesting horror game exploring the sickness, "schizophrenia" from a personal experience. I really liked the idea of the game as it really helps to educate players about what a person with schizophrenia may suffer from in terms of work, love-life, family, what they see and do etc. The design of the house and the usage of horrific visual images/objects help to show how scary things can be to the main character as well as how schizophrenia can influence the actions and thoughts of the main character. I also liked the details added into the game, like the wallpapers in the bedroom, reference to Dungeons & Dragons and some other references to "Silent" and "Resident" as it really adds to the unique feel of the game. Moreover, I actually really appreciate the ability of continously showering in the game XD as well as the design of the main character for the game.
Few issues I have encountered in the game is probably the way that I somehow couldn't see the laptop screen when talking to the sister through the computer as well as the characters of the game looking a little disproportional (could be just me). I also felt that the work life of the main character can also be explored further as well, for players to find out how working with "Schizophrenia" can be like.
Thank you for reading my comment and I wish you good luck in your future endeavours. Will definitely be looking forward to the full version of the game and I hope that the creator of the game is recovering from schizophrenia as well!
Thank you!!
